Talking Minds Viewpoint: Sharing your Experience

Sharing your Experience

Viewpoint is the Talking Minds blog that seeks to raise awareness of the impact that stigmatisation, inequality, discrimination, and other social issues have. To stigmatise, is to devalue and/or discredit a person from a particular community or service. For example, a person with Schizophrenia can be stigmatised and discriminated by society, because people make assumptions and apply negative stereotypes to that person.

This blog will provide you with detailed information and debate on the social model and its general correlation to mental health; specifically challenging the stigma and discrimination often ascribed by society.

Additionally, you will find some articles that do not necessarily correlate to the subject of mental health, but the relevance is still important, because the material available will develop an understanding and raise awareness of the situational diversity in which stigma and discrimination can develop: supporting the focal point of Viewpoint.

Registered members are able to submit personal stories, blogs, and articles to Viewpoint, contributing to the content available and making a difference.

If you require any further information, please contact Talking Minds.

Talking Minds Viewpoint: Poverty and Inequality

In society there are many inequalities that continue to exist. One representative form of social inequality is the social stratification or social class system. The presence of Black communities in Britain has not only created an issue in relation to ‘race’, but also in social class.
